The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are on many yogis and spiritual seekers’ bookshelf. They are the most complete and powerful teachings of Yoga. Although written many centuries ago, they remain practical teachings relating to our modern life and experiences. For example, the sutras discuss how to gain control of busy minds, how to overcome fear, and how to distance oneself from mundane attachments. The Yoga Sutras present a blueprint for living a more enlightened life. Not only do they explain the obstacles we face on the road to self understanding, they also describe steps to overcome these obstacles.
This 6-week series will provide an opportunity to explore these themes in the Yoga Sturas and how they relate to our daily lives.
To deepen our understanding and connection to the Sutras we will learn the invocation to Patanjali, how to chant the sutras, and participate in an energizing discussion of the first two chapters of the book.
