Hip Hip Hooray!

Tight hips trouble many of us daily with pain and limited mobility.

This workshop is designed for anyone who experiences tight and achy hips and would like to learn how to use yoga for effective relief.

Many of our most routine activities produce tightness in the hips. Long periods of sitting at work or while driving make our hip muscles disengage and become progressively weaker and shorter. Standing a long time also has this effect.  And cycling, running, and other forms of exercise that we hope will keep us fit actually worsen this condition by leading to adaptive shortening throughout the hips muscles. This tightness in the hips and surrounding muscles increase the risk of injury by straining tissues that are no longer able to move properly or freely.

In this 2-hour workshop, we will use yoga poses, various props, and breath exercises to both stretch and strengthen the muscles of the pelvis, back, and legs. By working and opening the hips we relieve pain and increase our body’s stability, flexibility, and mobility.

You will leave this workshop with the tools you need to feel better and maintain a home practice that targets the hip flexors, lower back, and hamstrings.

Restorative Yoga Training: The Art of Stillness

Restorative Yoga Training: The Art of Stillness

This 10-hour training is designed for yoga teachers and students who want to learn how to design and sustain a Restorative Yoga practice.

Restorative Yoga uses props to hold poses for an extended length of time thereby resulting in numerous physical and mental benefits.

Using props to support the body and hold postures longer allows our nervous system to turn off the fight or flight impulse that produces chronic stress.

As a result, we feel rejuvenated, anxiety, pain, stress are reduced, and our blood pressure tends to be lowered. Restorative yoga also promotes relaxation, mental clarity, and a sense of well-being by calming the body and mind.

Through the process of mindful softening into restorative poses, we gain an intense awareness of being present.

This 10-hour series will address the following aspects of Restorative Yoga:

• philosophy
• use of props
• partner work
• sequencing
• breath work

The series is designed both for teachers and students of yoga. We will learn various ways to incorporate restorative techniques into our classes and home practice.

Space is limited. Reserve today to receive the early bird discount.

Restorative Yoga Training: The Art of Stillness

This training is an invitation to teachers and students to learn the art of deep relaxation.

Restorative Yoga is a great practice to rejuvenate your nervous system, heal your body and calm your mind.

This is the perfect workshop for teachers or students wanting a better understanding of the application of Restorative Yoga.

By using props to hold the postures longer and support the body our nervous system has time to recalibrate. We can turn off the unconscious fight or flight state that leads to chronic stress. Instead, we can consciously choose to practice a mindful softening into life and into who we are by being present. Restorative poses help the body find homeostasis and when the body is balanced it can start to heal itself.

It reduces anxiety, pain, stress, lowers blood pressure and changes the messages that are sent to the body.

It promotes relaxation, a sense of well being and mental clarity.

By using yoga props like bolsters, blankets, blocks and belts the body is allowed to truly let go. The more the body is supported the more it can relax and release the energetic blocks that cause pain, discomfort, anxiety and stress.

Teachers will learn how to teach Restorative Yoga and apply it in group and private classes.

Students will learn how to develop a home practice and relieve stress.

10hrs CE

The training will address:

  • philosophy
  • use of props
  • partner work
  • sequencing
  • breath work

Journey Through the Chakras

This workshop will give us an opportunity to delve into the elements of the chakras and what they represent; earth, water, fire, air and space. By working with them we will begin to understand that they are not separate from us but rather make up the fabric of our being. In fact, they are the building blocks of our physical world. We will explore this symbiotic relationship through movement, sound, pranayama, visualization and meditation. The workshop will provide an insightful approach to the names of the chakras, their seed sounds and the ability to awaken and purify them.

ParaYoga Nidra: Sleeping with Awareness

“Awareness is the path of divinity.

Take ownership of your own awareness.” Rod Stryker, founder of Para Yoga

Yoga Nidra is known as yogic sleep or sleeping with awareness. It is an ancient Tantric meditation technique that is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. Yoga Nidra is a practice of conscious relaxation that can lead us to a spiritual awakening. Sleep doesn’t solve ever increasing stress levels because sleep isn’t the same as relaxation.  There are two kinds of tension: physical & mental/emotional.

Physical tension tightens muscles & lowers immunity.

Emotional/mental makes us less patient, more restless, anxious.   We store tension in the subconscious.  Not just trauma, but worry, disappointment, unfulfilled expectations.

We must find a way to relax. Not just the symptoms of stress but its roots.

ParaYoga Nidra teaches various techniques to systematically relax the body & mind & ultimately the subconscious. The subconscious drives our decisions and actions more than our conscious mind. By being “awake” in sleep we become more “awake” in life.

The benefits of Yoga Nidra Meditation Technique:

  • Improves quality of sleep & provides deep relaxation.
  • Helps Rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.
  • Improves work efficiency & enthusiasm.
  • Lowers blood pressure & slows breathing rate.
  • Effective in stress management, addictions, migraines, digestive disorders and depression.
  • Hold spaciousness even in times that we’re provoked.
  • Deal with uninvited change gracefully.
  • Better know the part of ourselves that remains constant through the turbulence of life
